Coaching for men in their 40s

A way out that actually holds

You're tired, the weight keeps coming back, and every Monday feels like starting again. It was never willpower — the plans were never built for your body or your life.

I've been the fat kid. I got to photoshoot shape, lost it again, and worked out what actually makes a reset hold.

Why it keeps failing

It was never your willpower

01

Built for someone else

Generic plans ignore your body, your schedule and everything else you're carrying. In your 40s that's the whole game.

02

All-or-nothing

One missed week and the whole thing collapses. A reset that holds is built to survive real life, not a perfect one.

03

No room to fail

Nobody ever taught you how to get back on after a slip. That single skill is the difference between six weeks and for good.

How it works

Nothing gets written
until I understand you

First

We talk

Twenty minutes, no pitch. What you've tried, what got in the way, what you actually want. If I'm not the right person for it, I'll tell you.

Then

We set the floor

A plan built around the week you actually have — training, food, sleep — starting deliberately smaller than you expect, so early progress is visible and real.

Ongoing

We adjust, and we measure

Weight trend, measurements, lifts, energy. We steer by data, not by how you felt on a Tuesday. And when life derails it — because it will — we have a restart, not a write-off.

Coaching

Three ways to work together

Founding rate — first five clients. Transformation at £280 a month instead of £380, held for your first twelve months. I'm early, I want to get this right, and I want people who'll tell me the truth. After twelve months you move to list price, and you'll know that from day one.

Foundation

£160 / month

Structure and accountability, without the weekly contact.

  • Full onboarding conversation before anything is written
  • Training plan matched to the days you can train
  • Straightforward nutrition guidance you can actually follow
  • Monthly check-in call
  • Message support, answered within one working day
  • Progress tracked properly — weight trend, measurements, lifts

Elite

£550 / month

Everything, with the door permanently open. Two clients at a time.

  • Everything in Transformation
  • Two calls a week
  • Unlimited access — reply when you need it, not when it's scheduled
  • Mindset and behaviour work as a core part of the programme, not an add-on
  • Full review of your training, nutrition, sleep and recovery data

Not currently taking Elite clients. Ask to be told when a space opens.

No minimum term, ever. You can stop whenever you like — I'd rather earn the next month than lock you into six.

Richard Shove at his heaviest, 134kg

About

I'm not the coach
who's always been lean

I was the kid who got picked for skins in PE. The one turned away from a rollercoaster because the harness wouldn't close. At my heaviest I was 134kg.

I lost 33kg, got into photoshoot condition, and then put every kilo back on — through grief, a house move, and letting the things that got me there quietly slip. Most transformation stories stop before that part. Mine didn't.

I'm 24kg down again now. Not finished, and I'm not going to pretend otherwise — but this time I know exactly what went wrong last time.

So I know the bit nobody coaches: not how to start, but how to come back. That's the whole job.

Qualifications: Level 3 Personal Trainer, CIMSPA-accredited. Level 4 Transformation Coach, accredited by the IAPC&M. I coach training, nutrition, habits and the mental side of all three — I'm not a doctor, and anything medical goes to one.

Tell me where you're at

No pitch and no pressure. Fill this in and I'll come back to you personally, usually within a day.

If it looks like I can help, we'll have a twenty-minute conversation. If I don't think I'm the right person, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

Your details go to me and nobody else.
